Facebook’s director of investor relations, Anil Gupta, has moved to a similar position at cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. The Block writes about it.
Gupta joined Facebook in 2012. Prior to that, he was a stock market analyst at investment firms Imperial Capital and Oppenheimer.
In his new role, Gupta is expected to work with Coinbase’s CFO and become the “face” of the company on Wall Street. With his help, the exchange plans to improve engagement with investors.
The new appointment was announced ahead of Coinbase going public. In December, the cryptocurrency exchange applied to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an initial public offering.
Earlier, Andreessen Horowitz venture founder Mark Andriessen joined Coinbase’s board as an observer.
Recall that on December 30, New York Times reporter Nathaniel Popper published a story about Coinbase employees being discriminated against on the basis of gender and race.
