Hacker Steals Four MAYC NFTs For Under $15

Despite a downtrend in NFT sales volume, a hacker managed to steal four Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) collectibles for under $15. Blockchain security and intelligence firm PeckShield reported that these collectibles – MAYC #8265, #6840, #7840 and #4843 – were stolen from MAYC’s platform through a single transaction completed in only five seconds.

Average Floor Price Of Collectibles

According to CryptoSlam data, the average floor price of MAYC collectibles is around 6.07 ethereum, which amounts to approximately $11,500 at the current market rate. Comparatively, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) saw a significant drop in its average floor price from over $600K in last May to about $60K currently.

Rise In MAYC Trading Volume

The trading volume for MAYCs has seen an increase of 77.7% in the past 24 hours and is currently at about $573K according to CryptoSlam data; however total NFT sale figures have dropped by 20%. Additionally there has been decrease in both number of buyers and transactions for all types of NFTS combined – 55288 buyers and 217860 transactions respectively as per CryptoSlam stats.

Dropping Number Of Thefts

A report on 3rd July suggested that since May there has been 23% decline in total value stolen by hackers via NFT theft ($ 2.27 million). This theft was largely concentrated towards Blur Marketplace which accounted for 86% share of stolen NFTS .

Despite this recent theft incident involving one single user , overall statistics suggest that value lost due to thefts is declining drastically with increased focus on security measures taken by platforms dealing with NFTS .
